Lifting and Rigging
These pages help with the arithmetic around a lift: how sling angle raises the tension in each leg, how a longer load center lowers what a forklift can carry, how to read a crane load chart and apply deductions, and the standard crane hand signals. Every calculation uses values you type from the nameplate, data plate or load chart in front of you; the site stores no capacity tables. The rated capacity and a qualified person decide what can be lifted.
Tools in this group
- Crane Load Charts — Type the radius and capacity rows from your own chart, then your working radius, load and deductions, to find the chart row and the net capacity.
- Crane Signal Chart — All 19 standard crane hand signals from OSHA Appendix A, described in words. Pick a group or search to find how a signal is made.
- Forklift Capacity Calculator — Type the rated capacity and load center from the data plate and your load length (or load center) to estimate the capacity at that load center.
- Sling Angle Calculator — Enter the load weight, the number of legs and the sling angle, or the leg length and spread, to see the load factor and the tension in each leg.
