Plumbing Work Order Template

Choose the sections for a plumbing job, then print the blank work order or download it as a CSV. You fill in the details by hand.

The plumbing work order template on this page is a free, blank printable form for recording a plumbing job: the problem, the shutoff, the work done, parts, labor hours and sign-off. It runs in your browser, with no sign-up, and nothing you type is uploaded or stored. The tool does not calculate anything. It builds a set of small tables that you print and fill in by hand.

Use it to write down what is found and done on a leak, clog or fixture job, so the details stay with the work. The form gives no plumbing repair instructions and does not decide anything for you. You can switch sections on or off, then print the sheet or download it as a CSV that opens in Excel.

How to use the Plumbing Work Order Template

  1. Enter the optional header details. Type into “Company or organization (optional)”, “Work order no. (optional)” and “Date (optional)”. This text appears only in the sheet header. Empty fields print as blank lines to write on.
  2. Choose a preset. Click “Full plumbing order”, “Leak call”, “Short (fixture + work)”, “Parts and labor” or “Diagnosis only” to set which sections are on.
  3. Set the row counts. Enter a number from 1 to 30 in “Parts rows” and “Labor rows”. Zero or text gives an error while that table is on. Above 30, the sheet uses 30 and shows a warning.
  4. Switch sections in More options. Turn sections on or off with “Fixture and shutoff block”, “Leak or clog description”, “Work performed”, “Parts and materials table”, “Labor table”, “Completion block” and “Signatures”.
  5. Check the output line. It reads “Printable form with {n} tables, ready to print.” The number changes as you switch sections on or off.
  6. Set the priority. Tick one box in the header: “☐ Low ☐ Normal ☐ High ☐ Emergency”.
  7. Print or download. Use the Print button, or choose “Download as CSV (opens in Excel)”. The page does not provide a Word file, so copy the printed sheet if you need one.

Presets are the fastest starting point, and you can still change any section afterward. Print a paper copy for the job file, or open the CSV in Excel to keep an electronic copy.

What does a plumbing work order template record?

A plumbing work order template records what a technician finds and does on a job. The default sheet has a header, a fixture and shutoff block, a description of the leak or clog, a work performed section, a parts and materials table, a labor table and a completion block with signatures.

Each part of the sheet has one job. The header identifies the work order and the location. The description holds the problem as it was seen. The work performed section holds what was done about it.

Why does the shutoff block come before the repair details?

In the default sheet the shutoff block sits right after the header and before the leak description and the work performed lines. It holds “Fixture or line affected”, “Shutoff location” and “Water shut off at (valve / time)”, which are blank lines you fill in by hand. Together they let the record show which fixture or line was involved, where its shutoff is, and where and when the water was shut off.

The tool does not tell you how to shut anything off. Those steps belong in your own written procedures.

How do parts rows and labor hours fit together?

Parts and labor are separate tables, so you can record materials and time without mixing them. The parts table has 5 rows by default and the labor table has 3 rows, and each can be set from 1 to 30 rows. The labor table also has a “Total hours” row.

The tool does not add up hours or price parts. Nothing is calculated, so you write each figure and the total by hand. If you need a cost, enter it yourself from your own numbers.

What does a work order template not decide?

A blank form does not decide whether work is correct, safe or allowed. It only holds what the person filling it in records. The sheet carries a note that reads: “A general-purpose template, not legal advice. Check the requirements of whoever asks for the record. Safety steps such as lockout belong in your own written procedures.”

Check the requirements of whoever asks for the record before you rely on the sheet. Safety steps belong in your own written procedures, not on the form. The sheet has no repair steps, and it does not say what a good result looks like. Anything like that has to come from you or from the person who asked for the work.
